Tuesday morning + updates!

Hi there!

It’s almost noon and I am having my first cup of coffee. Work started at 7:45am this morning (WFH) and I didn’t need coffee that early for energy, I’m surprised! I mean I don’t even need it right now for energy, I just love coffee lol.

Yesterday, we went to the gym at 6am and so we woke up at 5:45am which was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in a while. Waking up at 6 for work is hard enough, but that 15 mins early than usual was horrible lol. BUT I do have to say that I did feel better throughout the day and I wasn’t really tired. It’s much easier to go to the gym earlier when I am WFH, but on the days I have to go into the office it’s tricky because I like to go in at 7:30 so like when would I even make time to get ready + eat + go to the gym?! It would be crammed, so I think on those days we’ll just work out after work/school. 

We have been trying to get into the routine of working out daily, for multiple reasons of course, but mainly to get our heart pumping and blood running through our veins! Hopefully we can keep it going, it’s really hard to get into a routine, but anyone can do it! 

I made a to-do list for today and I am trying to keep it small otherwise I probably won’t get everything done. The good thing is that I can just move it to tomorrow and it’ll get done 🙂 

Our trip is pretty much done planning with the flights/cars/where we’re staying parts. The only thing left to do for me is to write it out in my notebook so it’s all laid out in front of me and I know what’s going on. Today I am going to go look at carry on suitcases for us – we literally only own one suitcase and my mom borrowed it for her trip to Bosnia. So we need 2 since this trip is 5 days long and I just want to bring my own stuff. We usually can fit both of our stuff together, but oh well.. what if we go to DSW in Dallas (the best) and buy some more shoes (LOL Mirhad) like where are we going to fit them if we don’t have two suitcases?! 😜

I also need to return my diffuser because it’s way too big. I liked the old one I had, but I gave it to my sister – she still needs to buy essential oils for it since I took mine with me. This one is good because of the size, but it’s too much work flipping it upside down to remove the water and add the essential oils. Before I just opened the top and added it – simple. So I am going to look for another one today too. 

Hmm, what else?? On Sunday, we had the BEST weather so far. I got to open up all of the windows and the breeze was so nice. It’s pretty much going to be in the 70’s for the next 2 weeks, except maybe like 2 days where it’s mid 80’s. But I’m not complaining, this weather is great! Trying to convince Mirhad for us to exercise outside today by playing soccer or something just so we can enjoy the weather (if you’re reading this Mirhad, plz let’s go). 😀

Things I don’t mind splurging on! 💫

There are some things I really don’t mind splurging on, so I’ve created a list of my personal favorites! 🙂 

  • Jeans 
    • My favorites are the ones from American Eagle, yes they are a little pricey, but they last for so long and they never fade no matter how many times you wash them. I have gotten jeans from different stores in the past like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx, but they’re just not good quality and usually don’t fit perfectly or shrink in the washer. So I don’t mind spend a little more to have jeans for 5+ years. Plus they’re super cute 🙂 
  • Skincare
    • I love to take care of my skin, so obviously I like to buy the good stuff and the good stuff is almost always expensive unless I get lucky and find a great affordable brand. Again, I don’t mind splurging on skincare because it’s for ME. I think I deserve some nice self care with a face mask! My favorite skincare stuff currently is Mario Badescu. 
  • Shoes
    • Shoes are something you should really do some research on and invest in. I think what you wear on your feet is super important to your body, especially your back. You need good shoes to support your back and other things so wearing something thin or uncomfortable just because it’s super cheap isn’t worth it. I like to buy a comfortable pair of shoes from a brand I know I won’t be disappointed with. Right now, I really like Reebok.. they have very comfortable shoes and I can even wear them to work. 
  • Traveling!!!
    • Don’t know if this counts, but of course I like to splurge on vacations and traveling. Not too much of course, but we like to have a good time so why not try the good food and go have fun if I’m already there?? Traveling is pretty much the #1 thing I spend money on lol, but it’s worth it!!

How I spend my “me time” + ideas ✨

Hi all!

“Me time” is super important to me because I think it’s an essential to happiness. Taking time to be alone, give yourself some love, and take that time to rest and rejuvenate. So here’s how I spend that time. 

I usually like to take a Saturday and spend a couple hours for this. The first thing I like to do is either take a bath or a nice shower so my face is fresh for the face mask I am about to apply. After I apply my face mask, I’ll sit down in my quiet space (which I made sure is clean and organized) and pick something to do. Of course, I can’t relax without a candle being lit! 

So by then I have already picked something I want to do, I usually pick something like this:

  • Blog
  • Watch a movie I’ve been meaning to watch
  • Catch up on shows
  • Catch up on my Youtube videos I subscribe to 
  • Drink coffee with my husband (this relaxes me, so if I am feeling like I don’t need to be alone at the moment, he will join)
  • Read a book
  • Read the news
  • Read some interesting Buzzfeed articles
  • Write a to do list and things I need/want

Yes, there’s SO MUCH you can choose to do! Maybe even just lay there and think about your day or meditate, craft, treat yourself at the salon, or go outside and explore some nature. There’s so much to do. I haven’t been able to meditate for some reason, I tried doing it with my husband, but I end up laughing at him lol. I can’t keep it together hahaha. 

I think everyone should have some “me time.” I believe it helps us in these ways:

  • Helps us relax
  • Gives us some time to think deeply 
  • Makes us more productive
  • Gives your brain a break + a reboot

So take some time for yourself and let your mind speak to you!

Self Love Challenge Day 15

I’m not really afraid to ask for anything, but I am usually not the one to speak up and ask a question. I don’t like being loud and I don’t like being at the center of attention. So I’m not afraid to ask, I just don’t want that attention on me. I’ll usually wait until after to ask my question. Maybe that is something I need to change about myself.. if I have a question, I should ask it. I shouldn’t be shy about it. 

Self Love Challenge Day 13

Well, I did take a selfie and I look crazy because I’m sick. But if I have to find one thing I love about it, it’s my dimples. Even though I’m not smiling, they still show through, which is something I love about this selfie.

I can set better boundaries for myself in life by writing them down. I think when I establish those boundaries and if I went to go through with them, they need to be written down somewhere. Preferably on something I look at everyday.

Something in my life I need to get rid of is negativity and listening to gossip. Neither are good for anyone’s health in that matter, but why should I care about some stupid gossip? Not worth my time when I could be doing something more useful like learning or blogging for an instance. And the negativity is a hard one to get rid of, but I have been better at being more positive. Being negative about everything just ruins your mood and the mood of others around you. Be positive, be happy. 

Self Love Challenge Day 8

I need to slow down and take my time in just everyday activities. I feel like I’m always running out of time to do things and I am always rushed to get somewhere. I live for the days where I can just take my time doing my own thing without rushing. Also, I feel like I have so much to do that I can’t think straight sometimes. I want to wake up, take my time getting ready, do my morning routine, and not be worried about running out of time or being late to something. Especially when this past weekend I’ve been waking up pretty late and I hate it. My days are literally cut in half, today especially because I have so much homework to turn in and notes to catch up on. I’d love to do that thing where you “stop and smell the roses” hahaha. That would be great. 

Self Love Challenge Day 7

Oops, forgot to post day 7 from yesterday so I will just start from today! Something I love about my body is my dimples. As a kid, I was always confused as to why I had 2 holes in my cheeks lol but as I grew older I learned to love them. They’ve become one of my favorite things about myself, I mean they don’t do ANYTHING, but it’s a cool feature! Something I love about my personality is the fact that I can get along with pretty much anyone and that I care for people a lot. Yes, I give some people tough love, but it is because I truly care about them. I know I might come off as a bitch or mean, but I do it for a reason lol. But yeah, I can hangout with anyone and start a convo and just talk to them. Yeah I am shy, but after a convo or two I’m good! 

Self Love Challenge Day 5

Something I need to start saying “yes” to is watching more movies with Mirhad. He loves to watch movies all of the time and I’m always too tired so that’s one thing I want to start saying yes to. Another is saying yes to hanging out with my friends more. One of my goals for 2018 is to hangout with my friends and family more, including my siblings. I’m always too busy and swamped with work to sit down and just hangout with them, but I need to spend my weekend nights with them more often!
