My thoughts on the new Kindle Paper-white!

Hi all!

I finally took my husbands advice and bought a Kindle! I am someone who hasn’t read a book in a long time, yes I know that’s a bad thing! But it’s been an hour since I opened my Kindle up and I have already read 4 chapters!! I wanted to write some things I already love about this device and reasons why I hated reading off my iPad, computer, or phone. 

Things I love about the Kindle so far:

• It doesn’t hurt my eyes when I read
  • The lighting is very nice and isn’t too bright to the point where it hurts your eyes. It literally is like a book to your eyes
• It’s light
  • It’s a very light device, it’s not even half a pound so it’s easy to carry around and put in your purse or backpack
• It’s waterproof
  • One of the main reasons I chose this new one was because it is waterproof, I thought this would be an awesome feature especially because it would come in handy at the beach, pool, or even taking a bath! It’s also nice to not worry about it accidentally falling into water or getting splashed 
• It’s sleek
  • The screen is very sleek, there is no border around it and it’s just a smooth screen overall. The whole design of it is really nice

Now, let’s talk about why I hated reading off of my phone, computer, or iPad. #1 reason I didn’t like to was because it hurt my eyes SO bad! After a couple of minutes I could feel my eyes getting irritated which usually resulted in me putting the device away and never finishing the book. Yes, a real book is nice, but it doesn’t motivate me to read. I thought if I had it on my iPad, I would feel more motivated to read it, but I just couldn’t because of the harshness on my eyes. Another reason why I didn’t like to read off of these devices is because they’re too distracting. On any of these, I could easily exit out of the Kindle app and go on social media. So that didn’t help. With the Kindle, all you have on there is BOOKS. You can’t browse the web and you can’t have other apps, all you can do is read!

Which is why I think I will be able to read more books than I ever have in 2019! Do you have a Kindle, what’s your favorite thing about it? Any good book recommendations?

My 5 favorite purchases from Amazon!

I love Amazon and I feel like my husband and I order from there quite often. So I thought it would be a cool idea to show you guys my top 5 favorite purchases in no order and why I like them!

#1: Camera & Phone Tripod

• I really like this tripod because the last one I had was the type where you could pull these circles off and make it smaller or whatever and it was just annoying dealing with it. This one is sturdy and can’t break easily. It wasn’t super expensive either. It also comes with a phone mount thing where you could put your phone and it has a camera mount if you want to put your digital camera. One more awesome perk is that it comes with a remote shutter which is super cool! 

#2: Dimmable Fluorescent Ring Light

• This is the first time I’ve purchased a ring light and I have to say that this changes EVERYTHING! Yesterday I was checking out my makeup in the mirror and had this light on – it made my skin look flawless. I could see every detail whereas on my regular mirror, it’s hard to see if I messed up somewhere. I bought this to use when I make Youtube videos or when I take pictures, so I think this was a good investment. I got the cheaper version of the two since I didn’t really care what color the metal was, works fine either way. 

#3: Mezzaluna Chopper and Knife

• Okay this is one of the coolest kitchen tools we own! One time, we got a salad at Subway and they used some blade thing to chop the salad in a big bowl and literally the salad was amazing. So later on, we find out that this is the tool they use! We found it on Amazon for a great price and tried it the other day when making a salad. It chopped through lettuce, cucumbers, and chicken. It was so good! The blades are really sharp so I’d be careful around this one!

#4: Bed Head Deep Waver for Beachy Waves

• This reminded me of a crimper from like way back in 6th grade. It makes beautiful beachy waves! My hair is medium length right now and it makes it look so wavy I love it. I can’t wait until it grows even longer, I’ll feel so tropical. I watched a Youtube video of someone using this on short hair too and it looks so pretty. If you look at the reviews, you can see how it looks on different hair styles. One of the best purchases for my hair lately. 

#5: simplehuman Rectangular Step Trash Can

• My husband broke our trash can over the summer – I washed it and left it outside to dry and he ended up dropping it to the point where it broke and wasn’t usable anymore. We were thinking about just replacing a piece (the black can inside), but it was pointless to do since that wasn’t really cheap either. Also, it’s tough finding one that exactly fits yours when you don’t even know what trash can it is anymore! So we searched for months and decided to get this one. Best decision ever!! This trash can is great and it closes by itself slowly so it doesn’t slam on anything. They also gave us a sample of their trash bags that are like a true fit to our specific can and I think we’re going to purchase some more because they’re amazing. It’s so easy to pull the trash bag out whereas before it was a struggle. It’s also a good size for a not so big kitchen.

Tuesday 🌿

Good morning!!

I really need to get back into the habit of blogging every morning, I always have the intention, but then a million other things pop up that I have to do so I never get around to actually writing. So I finally have some time right now and I will make it a habit to blog again once a day like I use to! 

So this morning I woke up, kind of feeling a little sick.. for some reason my stomach was bothering me and my head hurt, but I feel much better after eating. I ate a bowl of cheerios this morning, half of an avocado, and half of an orange. BTW my favorite snack at the moment is half of an avocado (bc lots of calories in a whole one) and pink himalayan salt drizzled on top… SO DELICIOUS. Another new favorite snack is garlic hummus and pita chips, seriously these two things is what I have been missing in my life 😋😋😋 the only thing is that when I start eating the chips with hummus, I CANNOT stop lol, it’s so difficult bc its so good! 

So on Friday it’s Bajram which means that Ramadan is officially over and this is one of the best holidays of the year. We get to spend time with family, give gifts, and enjoy each others’ company. Before Friday, I have to clean the whole house (it’s just a tradition or rule I guess) and we have already pretty much bought everyone presents, today we are just going to finish up the rest. 

Yesterday we were at Marshall’s and I think I found a good vanity mirror for my makeup table so I think I might go back and get it since it was only $20 and I think it would look good in the room. I also just found these vanity light bulbs on Amazon for $20 that I can stick on there to give it amazing lighting so I think I might buy those too. All that’s left is to buy a chair and I did find one on Amazon, but it’s $60 so I think I might put that off until I get my first paycheck and have some more money. 

Mirhad has been working, this is his second week so he’s done pretty much by 5 pm so today after he’s done, we’re going to go finish buying the presents and we have to go buy this board game because Adisa is coming over tonight so we can chill! It’ll be fun, I haven’t seen her in so long and I’ve missed her! I need to remind myself to give her the grad gift I have forgotten to give her a million times!!!! 

Thor is probably most likely going to be home on Monday (crossing my fingers) I’m still waiting for the lady to respond about us coming before the 23rd, but I don’t think it would be a problem.

Anyways, I have to go visit my mom real quick and then head to Marshall’s to buy that mirror while it’s still there!!! See ya! 🙂

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera Case + Wallet Album Review ✨

I’ve had my Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera for about a year now and I never got any type of case for it and I haven’t been using it much either. So I decided that with my upcoming trips, I was going to take some pictures using it! I found a cute case and a wallet album on Amazon and I really love them!

Came in this cute little box, originally I wanted white to match my camera, but this is a light gray and I really like it way more than the white!

So this is what it looked like when I took it out of the box, it comes with a strap to carry around your neck… as you can see, the light gray matches my wall color 😂

This is what it looks like with my camera inside, I think it’s adorable. Also, I just found out that it has a little slot where it tells you how much film you have left.. I literally didn’t even notice it before, but this case does leave a little hole so you can see it which is great

This case also includes a little slot inside that could fit a few polaroids you take. The back also detaches as you can see where I circled it on the second picture. This is helpful if you want to take a couple pictures and you don’t have to hold the flap back

This is the wallet album which is super adorable and useful especially if you have nowhere else to put your pictures. I have a couple of them around my house and I didn’t know what to do with them, but now I do!

I really love both of the items and I think they will be useful to me when I travel and even if I am not traveling, it is a good thing to store my photos in and keep my camera in to protect it from getting damaged by anything. Overall, I am very satisfied with these purchases!
